Abstract Submission Closed
Abstracts will be judged on scientific merit. Abstracts whose primary purpose appears to be the promotion of commercial products will not be accepted.
In general, abstracts should represent original research not yet published or presented elsewhere prior to its submission for the 2008 ISFFAL meeting. (Plenary and other invited
speakers are exempt from this requirement but asked to submit an abstract covering their presentation.) Authors of successful abstracts will be notified via email by early March.
Accepted abstracts may be scheduled as either oral or poster format and will be published in the Congress Program and Abstract book. Please be sure to check the format you prefer and
the organizers will attempt to accommodate this request. Format instructions follow. Failure to follow formatting instructions may result in rejection. Changes will NOT be allowed after
submission.
Abstracts must be typed, single-spaced in Times New Roman 10-point font. Top, left, and right margins must be 0.9". Do not justify the right-hand margin. The abstracts (excepting
those received from plenary and invited speakers and awardees) must be organized in structured format using the following headings in bold type: Background (optional),
Objective, Procedure, Results, and Conclusion. The body of the abstract must not exceed 300 words.
The title should be brief, clear and informative. The entire title must be
typed in UPPERCASE (capital) letters, single-spaced, and centered at the top of the page. Authors name(s) should be flush left, 2 lines beneath the title. Institutional affiliation and
address (city, state, country only) should be flush left immediately under the author(s). All author names should appear as last name followed by first and middle initials with no space
between initials (example: Kruger TA). Use superscripted numbers to match up authors with a specific affiliation. Do not list degrees or other titles. Underline the name of the
person who will make the presentation. Begin the text 2 lines beneath the address line.

OMEGA-3 FATTY ACID INFUSION DIMINISHES THE INFLAMMATORY RESPONSE IN THE BRAIN OF RATS FOLLOWING ISCHEMIA-REPERFUSION INJURY THROUGH THE PRODUCTION OF
RESOLVINS. Smith ME¹, Turner BS², Tompkins T¹, & Durban CA¹. ¹University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana, IL, USA; ²University of Missouri - School
of Medicine, Columbia, MO, USA.
Background: Docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) is an omega-3 fatty acid that is found in high concentration in the brain.
DHA can be metabolized into a potent anti-inflammatory lipid mediators (i.e., resolvins). Objective: This study sought to explore the ability of DHA infusion to diminish
post-ischemic inflammation and tissue damage in the brains of rats following an acute ischemia-reperfusion episode. Procedures: Female Sprague-Dawley rats were…
Please complete the abstract form in the link below, save the form and send as an email attachment to ISSFAL2008@kumc.edu.
